Shipping you car from the US?

I just had a new guy come in and he's been here about a month. He brought a Lincoln Navigator from the States. I've been in Italy for three years and never had a problem with my local bought car. However, this new guy has had his car broken into 2 times in one month. The first time they smashed his window to get his radio and the second time the broken the lock out. I found this very strange. Italy does has a high car theft rate, but it's not as bad as many places in the states. I believe this new guy's car was broken into so many times because it was obviously a foreign car and therefore a target. Most people in Italy drive small cars that are a little beat up because the traffic is crazy. Before you come to Italy with your American SUV be prepared for the consequences. You will have a hard time finding parking and your car with likely be a target. I can understand your need to bring a car they you may be making payments on, but I just wanted to give you a little information before you get here.
